Kang Xia,  a professional private cello teacher with more than 30 years of tutoring and performance experience and has been teaching cello students from beginners to advanced levels in McLean; Great falls; Vienna; Reston; Oakton, and Herndon Virginia for more than 4 years. Mr.Xia is a member of the following professional organizations:

• Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)

• Virginia Music Teachers Association (VMTA)

•  Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association (NVMTA)

• Fairfax Arts Coalition for Education (FACE)

          As a professional cellist, he regularly plays with Virginia Chamber Orchestra. From 2009-2019, he served as a full-time cellist with Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in China. He has also worked in the U.S. with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra; New Jersey Symphony Orchestra; Michigan Opera Orchestra; Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic; Hudson Valley Philharmonic; New Haven Symphony Orchestra; Long Island Philharmonic and Plainfield Symphony Orchestra in NJ (Principal cello).  Additionally, he is a member of both the Washington DC Federation of Musicians and the Baltimore Musician’s Association Local 40-543.

      He was a jury member of the 2020 The Capitol Symphonic Youth Orchestras (TCSYO) Concerto Competition. As a result, over the past four years, all his students were successfully accepted into American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras (AYPO); Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras (MCYO), TCSYO and Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra (LSYO). In 2023, Mr.Xia was invited to be the cello sectional coach of Langley High School which is ranked second within Virginia, USA. 

      Mr.Xia would like to continually explore more opportunities in cello teaching, orchestral; chamber music; studio recording.
